We did it! And it is a mark of how proud we are o We did it!

And it is a mark of how proud we are of ourselves (and how fantastically amazingly proud of @aur.oracampbell I am) that we are posting this photo.

We got up early, three times a week, every week, for nine weeks and we have completed the Couch to 5k. Might not seem much to some people but for us it's massive. Go us! And especially Aurora!

Oh. And next? Next we're going to do it again. But faster...

North Yorkshire continued to charm us on our last North Yorkshire continued to charm us on our last full day here. The spectacular Brimham Rocks was our venue for a morning scramble, with a surprise walk-by from Thursday's llamas.

In the afternoon we visited Studley Royal Water Gardens, with a temporary modern art bridge, stunning trees and reflections, roaring stags, oodles of panicking pheasants, follies, and spectacular views of Fountains Abbey.

As night fell we ate our supper, then explored the floodlit abbey, to the sound of Gregorian chant. Then back to our cabin for a quick sauna and the last of the s'mores. It has been a blast.

Hey it's Sophie and I'm going to tell y'all about Hey it's Sophie and I'm going to tell y'all about our day.

So to begun with we all woke up (kinda obvious but let me start from the beginning) we all had some breakfast and Mummy shot this beautiful picture of Aurora and Duplo (in picture non 1).

Once we all were properly awake we went out in the car and went on a stunning walk (pictures 2-4) which was full of follies and beautiful things. It was 8k I think! I took lots of lovely pictures for my instagram, it was so beautiful I quote Mummy on this but she said "you can see why people think forests are magical"

After our walk we hopped in the car and went to a town called Masham and had some lunch. I had a tomato, pesto and mozzarella pannini. After we had food we asked the waitress where should we go/what is fun around here.

She said the Forbidden Corner. We went there it was so much fun. I can't tell you the details (spoiler alert) but basically we went around and underground into many cool tunnels, mazes and tons of other things.

After we went out for a nice meal and were now all playing a game around the table so yeah that is what we did today!

When life gives you Covid, hug a llama.  Or somet When life gives you Covid, hug a llama.  Or something.

Our half term plans (back to France and *that* mountain) were derailed by a postive lateral flow test (Magnus) three days before we due to leave....

Ten days of intensive lego building later he was released from his bedroom and we headed off to a last minute treehouse in Yorkshire @swintonbivouac .

And (honestly, no social media gloss) it's been brilliant so far.  We stopped off on the way with @nidderdalellamas for a hike with our new llama friends Roger, Rupert and Magic (even Ben was charmed) and have just had a cosy and warm night of games, 'smores and candlelight.  Even the lack of electricity and WiFi hasn't been too hard...

One of those days when your feed is flooded with p One of those days when your feed is flooded with pictures of Scotland looking early-morning gorgeous. Here's one Sophie took on her pre-school run.

The question is which is more impressive: the photo or the run?!

Yes, it really is that time of year again... P6, Yes, it really is that time of year again...

P6, S2, S2 and S3.
Who said holidays were for relaxing? The good thi Who said holidays were for relaxing?

The good thing about spending last night in the tent* is that everyone was up bright (ish) and early (ish) and raring (ish) to head off on today's adventures.

So off to Beamish we went, to visit the North East's living museum. Harriet and the children had been before and loved it and so were hugely looking forward to introducing Ben to its 1900s pit village and funfair, 1910s High street, 1940s Home Farm, complete with gobbling turkeys and very fat pig and more...

Despite inevitable Covid restrictions meaning some highlights (actually visiting the mine, having a lesson in the classroom, touching the exhibits) were off, we still had a brilliant day. Highlights were the first world war recruiting sergeant (complete with non-standard-issue iPhone) who was a mine of fascinating information (did you know that Wilkinson Sword really did make swords (bayonets)?), the helter skelter (we all went), playing in the playground (Sophie and Ben are hoop masters), the puffing Billy (none of us is too old to enjoy a train ride) and a loo made for twins...

Exhaustion started to take its toll towards the end of the day so we headed back north and finally, after 11 years of driving past, paid a visit to an Angel. Aurora was feeling slightly less than angelic so opted to stay in the car, but the rest of us loved getting up close and personal with this modern icon, before heading out for a noodly dinner on the way home.

One day left and it will, perforce, be rather quieter....

* the girls clearly liked it so much they are all back in there tonight. Magnus is fast asleep (already) in his own bed.

Yesterday's staycation post today. Although is it Yesterday's staycation post today. Although is it actually a staycation if you don't sleep in your own bed?

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we camped in the garden. It was the best (only) campsite we've ever camped in...

A busy day otherwise, with a first couch to 5k run for Harriet and Aurora, rugby training for Ben, Sophie and Aurora (again), some work (boo) for Harriet, churros (homemade) for breakfast and a barbecue for supper and a lot of cleaning (chickens) sorting (school uniform), and setting up (Lucy brought fairy lights and we made a video) between.

Then into the tent for games, cards, stories and bed.

Some of us are still asleep...

Day 2 of our Stay-cation and another trip South of Day 2 of our Stay-cation and another trip South of the border to the gorgeous Alnwick Gardens for GayDay 2021. Here we were royally entertained by the eye-opening finals of Mr Gay England, and Mx Drag England, some fabulous ice cream and lovely company. We even saw the Queen (maybe) and the GayDay playlist in the car to and from was epic... ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍💖🏳️‍🌈

We are seeing the Summer holidays out* in true 202 We are seeing the Summer holidays out* in true 2021 style, with a staycation.

Last night we went out for dinner (delicious, and no washing up!) and today we did what we do on holiday: walk up hills.

This one's the Cheviot, just over the border into Northumberland. It's 815m high, has more false summits than I've washed up dinners and on a clear day you can just about see it from our house.

And it was brilliant. Blustery, boggy, heathery and pretty blinking steep in places on the way up. And equally boggy, peaty, thistly and bilberry-fuelled as we headed down through the Harthope Valley with the burn rushing along beside us (and sometimes finding its way into our socks).

Even Aurora said, "I like this".

We did just under 15km and 628m of vertical climb in 4 hours (plus apparently another near two hours when we weren't moving - what on earth were we doing?!). We will have stiff legs in the morning. But as we have plans for tomorrow no excuses will be accepted....

*yup, they go back next Wednesday. I know...

Tweed to Thames day 10. So today it's Lucy recoun Tweed to Thames day 10.

So today it's Lucy recounting our visit to the Henry Moore Sculpture Park.

We had a fairly lazy morning and then at around 11 we all (Campbells and Granny) bundled in the car and drove to the park. We then wandered around the park and looked at the sculptures. You were allowed to touch them and it was interesting wondering why some parts were scored, some smooth, some round and some angled. There were three sculptures that were in sheep fields and the sheep were incredibly unfazed about the people tramping through their home. We then went to the cafe and had lunch before going back home.

At home we watched the Lady Killers, an old film about a bunch of crooks and am old lady, which was very amusing and then had a lazy afternoon.
